ANTHONY HELLER

PRESIDENT, PLAZACORP INVESTMENTS LTD. 

Mr. Anthony Heller is the President of Plazacorp Investments Limited which he founded in 1981 with the vision of developing retail commercial real estate. Plazacorp developed many shopping centers during the 1980’s, including several mixed-use commercial-residential projects and in the early 1990’s, Plazacorp’s focus  shifted to the development of  residential condominium. Today, Plazacorp is one of Toronto’s leading residential development companies, having completed 19 high-density condominiums with an additional 10 projects in varying stages of development. Mr. Heller has 35 years of experience in real estate developments and has initiated and completed approximately $2.1 billion of development projects.

Mr. Heller has been involved in venture capital financings and has consulted to both privately held and publicly traded companies in which he has invested.

Mr. Heller has been an Independent Director of Firm Capital Mortgage Investment Corporation (TSE:FCU) since 1999. He has invested in and provided guidance to many successful early-stage technology companies including YAK Communications, which was founded in 1998 and sold to Globalive for $80 million in 2006.

P. OLIVER BLUM

MANAGING DIRECTOR, HYDRA PROFESSIONALS, LLC

Oliver joined HYDRA Professionals in January 2013 in Toronto and brings a broad variety of operating, turnaround consulting and financial services experience and leadership. Prior to HYDRA, Oliver held a number of senior roles in industry, consulting and banking.

Specifically, at BASF he turned around operating and logistics units in Vancouver and Toronto before taking on the leadership of BASF’s North American Pigments business unit with revenues of $250 million, headquartered in New Jersey.

In 2001, Oliver joined BBK, a specialized consulting firm based focused on turnaround work in the auto sector. Through a combination of financial and operational restructuring efforts, these distressed automotive suppliers were either made more efficient, supported with additional business volume from their customers, recapitalized, sold, merged or liquidated.

Oliver joined TD Bank in 2004 in the Corporate Banking Group in Toronto. From there he took on roles in Financial Restructuring, Commercial Credit Risk Management, and the Specialized Financing Group, where he lead TD’s acquisition of ABN Amro’s asset based lending group. In 2009, Oliver assumed leadership of TD’s largest commercial banking centre, and over the next 3 years, revenue and profit increased by over 50% and loan and deposit volumes hit historic highs, while all major portfolio risk measures remained stable or improved.

Oliver holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree in History and Economics from Queen’s University. Born in Germany, Oliver has lived and worked in Europe, Hong Kong, Vancouver, Michigan, and New Jersey. He currently resides in Toronto with his wife and son.

Since 1979, Robert has been managing a mid-Toronto CPA/CA firm focused on entrepreneurs, start-ups, technology, family run and partnership ventures. Robert was chosen as the ‘Top Niche Accountant’ for entrepreneurs and inventors by Toronto Life Magazine.

Since 2007, Robert has also produced and co-hosted Canada’s most successful business podcast — the PROFIT BusinessCast which has a loyal following of over 100,000 Canadian business owners and leaders. Guests have included Presidents/CEOs (American Express, Apple, BestBuy, Facebook, Google and Sony) thought leaders (Seth Godin, Mitch Joel, Henry Mintzberg) and media insiders (Andrew Coyne, Arlene Dickinson).

BRUCE HUNTER

PRESIDENT & CEO, LIGHTHOUSE 360

In addition to his current role as President and CEO of his advisory, Lighthouse 360, Bruce is the best-selling author of “Fog Lights. Piercing the fog of everyday business”. His second book, “The Success Cage. You’ve built a business that owns you. Now what?” is due to be launched this summer via publisher, BPS books. He speaks regularly to business leaders across North America on organization growth and the challenges of business ownership.

His advisory, Lighthouse 360, allows him to work with the some of North America’s best CEOs and business owners in pursuit of accelerating the growth in value of their businesses.

Prior to work with Lighthouse 360 and The Executive Committee (world’s largest forum for CEOs and business owners), Bruce had an enviable track record as a Fortune 500 Executive. As VP marketing, he led Kraft Canada’s $1.5B stable of Retail brands to sustained double-digit growth, breakthrough advertising and Kraft to “Marketer of the year”. He has also led over $2B in M & A, has a strong record of leading successful turnarounds and integrations.

BRICE SCHESCHUK

CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES OF GLOBALIVE COMMUNICATIONS / WIND MOBILE.

Brice has been with Globalive / WIND for nine years in a senior finance capacity and is responsible for all aspects of finance, facilities, business planning and human resources including direct responsibility for raising in excess of $1.4 billion in capital. Globalive / WIND is a leading Canadian telecommunications service provider with a national fixed and wireless footprint and 1,500 employees.

Brice is the CFO of Globalive Capital and AAL Corp as well as Co-President of Brave Investment, investment holding companies focused on private and public company and fund investing and manages approximately $100 million in assets across a number of investment classes including alternative funds, private and public equity, venture capital, angel, real estate, CPC’s, SPAC’s and RTO’s.

He is the Chairman and Director of Samba Days, a gift experiences company, and a past director of a number of public and private companies including Web Host Industry Review, iLookabout, Hy-Drive Technologies and Varicent Software.

Brice is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and earned his designation at Coopers & Lybrand in 1997. A passionate entrepreneur and investor, Brice has been involved in some of the most exciting start-ups in Canada over the past 18 years.
