Company Spotlight:
Antonella Brogno - Miceli
For International Women’s Day, we wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the most prominent women of our team, Antonella Brogno-Miceli, Director of Investment Sales. Cranson Capital is proud to have women in prominent roles on our team. On International Women’s Day, and every day, we celebrate the diverse skill sets, backgrounds, and contributions the women of our company make to our team, and to all businesses across the world.
While initially receiving her undergrad in political science from York University, Antonella intended on a career in international politics. At university, Antonella worked part-time as a bank teller and after graduating she was quickly drawn to the dynamic, social, and fast-paced world of wealth management and put aside her political aspirations.
Antonella embraced new opportunities and took roles internationally where she had the opportunity to work with prominent international banks in the Cayman Islands, Bahamas and New York. Returning home after a decade abroad Antonella set her focus on private equity. With personal interest in real estate Antonella accepted the opportunity to work with Cranson Capital and joined the business development side of the business.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Antonella has experienced challenges.
“When I’m meeting with a client, they have a preconceived notion of who builds houses and who is involved in development.” Antonella explains. “When a woman is talking to them about building and the process involved in completing a development, there are always questions about me and how I know so much about this area. Its almost like a quick background check, which is good business, but I can see the difference with male counterparts who are accepted just based on their position. This doesn’t dishearten me because I know my self worth, and I know that many women in various fields experience the same. This is why gender equality is so important, no women should have to continuously prove that they are worthy of their career”.
Despite the challenges, Antonella has noted a shift in both the banking and development sector.
“I do see changes happening; in my view the change is because we have more women in leadership positions. It’s no longer rare to see women on construction sites or at the board room table. So I do see it—it is changing.”
With significant experience working across a variety of banking sectors, Antonella continues to provide outstanding relationship management to all her clients. To her colleagues, and new young women starting out in her field, Antonella says
“Speak up and be seen! Don’t wait for an invitation, get out there and try.”
For Antonella, International Women’s Day is a celebration of all women, no matter their professional field, circumstance, or geographical location.
“I think the global support network that International Women’s Day creates is important, not just for me, but for women everywhere, facing unique and different circumstances. Our challenges maybe different but together we can hold each other up and break through a glass ceiling or any barrier.”
We’d like to thank Antonella for her expertise, guidance, and ongoing contribution to helping make our company a great place to work, and a place that promotes equality in all facets of our business.
